Meat Rabbit Supplies

Lixit Wide Mouth Bottle – 32oz

Our favorite rabbit water bottle! Intuitive stainless steel ball valve that rabbits learn to use fast. Wide mouth makes it easy to clean and fill. You can also slip ice cubes in on hot days. Great flow for quick hydration. Don’t use bottles in freezing temps – switch to crocks.

EZ Cage Floor Resting Mat

These colorful plastic mats give rabbits a smooth place to rest. Highly recommended if your cage or hutch has a wire mesh floor. Helps prevent sore hocks. Rabbits may chew these a bit, but they hold up pretty well. 9 fun colors to choose from! Dishwasher safe.

Professional Cage Resting Mats

Heavy duty resting mats made of hard, food-grade plastic. Thicker and harder than economy types. Been using these for years with no chewing damage. Mats fit perfectly in 1/2″ x 1″ flooring. Rabbits favorite spot to rest. Save by selecting the bulk option.

Stainless Steel Bowls w/ Clamp

8 stainless steel bowls with clamp rings that rabbits can’t chew or dump. Durable and easy to clean. Can be used for food or water. 30 oz capacity. Need more? Get a set of 14 bowls here.

Hanging Cage Cup – 1 Pint

Unique shift-lock design! Hanging feed & water cup that rabbits can’t dump. Great for giving single rabbits water in winter. Ice pops out easily. Sturdy and well made. 16 oz or 2 cup capacity.

Hanging Cage Cup – 1 Quart

Unique shift-lock design! Hanging feed & water cup that rabbits can’t dump. Narrow design discourages kits from hopping in it. Good for grow-outs in winter. 32 oz or 4 cup capacity.

Pyrex Bowls 6 pack – 1 cup

Small bowls for feeding treats or offering salt licks. Straight sides mean they’re less likely to get dumped. High-quality bowls are easy to clean and last forever. 8 oz capacity.

Pyrex Bowls 4 pack – 2 cup

Great water bowls for individual rabbits. Heavy with straight sides that rabbits don’t dump. I use these in winter – get a few extra to swap out or thaw briefly in warm water to remove ice.

Pyrex Bowls 2 pack – 4 cup

Great water bowls for does with litters and grow-outs. Heavy with straight sides that rabbits can’t dump. I use these in winter – thaw briefly in warm water to remove ice.

Lixit Quick Lock Cage Bowl – 20oz

No more spilled or wasted food! This bowl is easy to mount and won’t come off. Twist to remove for cleaning. Hard BPA-free, chew-resistant plastic. Use for food or water.

Large Rabbit Nest Box – Wood

This solid wood nest box provides 8-12 pound does a safe place to kindle year-round. I recommend attaching a 3″ board across the front to scrape off nursing kits, since the front is only 4″ high.

Large Rabbit Nest Box – Metal

Sturdy metal nest box with removable peg-board floor. For 8-12 pound rabbits. Easy to clean and sanitize. Don’t use metal boxes in cold weather since kits get chilled by the metal sides.

Meat Rabbit Feeders

Fine-x feeders from Bass Equipment are the best self-cleaning rabbit feeders in the market. The screen bottoms sift out fines (food crumbs that rabbits won’t eat). I absolutely recommend them over the crazy colored ones at Tractor Supply. If you just need a few, the feeders below have a similar design and also work well. Get 3.5″ for single rabbits, 5″ for mom’s with litters, and 7-11″ for grow-outs.

Pet Lodge Small Animal Feeder – 3.5″

Good for single rabbits. Can hold 2-3 days of feed, though I recommend feeding a daily ration. Made of chew-proof, rust-resistant, galvanized steel.

Pet Lodge Small Animal Feeder – 5″

Good for mom’s with litters. Fill once or twice a day depending how much the bunnies eat. Made of chew-proof, rust-resistant, heavy-gauge galvanized steel.

Pet Lodge Small Animal Feeder – 7″

Good for grow-outs. This feeder holds lots of feed so you don’t have to fill it as often. Made of chew-proof, rust-resistant, heavy-gauge galvanized steel.

Meat Rabbit Cages & Tools

Purchase quality cages and welded wire from Bass EquipmentKlubertanzBunnyRabbit.comGrandview Rabbitry, or KW Cages. Avoid pet-style cages and the cheap ones from Tractor Supply – they are flimsy and rust quickly. All-wire cages should be constructed of 1″x2″ welded wire (cage sides and top) and 1/2″x1″ welded wire (cage floors). Use 24×36 or 30×30 for single rabbits. 30×36 or 24×48 for does with litters and grow-outs. I prefer my cages 18″ high. The cages shown below are 16″ high. Cages ordered online require assembly, so purchase c-rings or j-clips and pliers for assembly.

Galvanized Rabbit Cage – 30″x30″

Heavy-duty galvanized cage made of quality rust-resistant steel. Fits one adult meat rabbit. Vinyl door guard covers sharp edges. Can stack cages with rabbit hutch frame kit and dropping pan.

Galvanized Rabbit Cage – 30″x36″

Heavy-duty galvanized cage made of quality rust-resistant steel. Good size for does with litters and grow-outs. Vinyl door guard protects you from sharp edges.

Rabbit Hutch Frame Kit

Sturdy galvanized legs designed to stack all-wire rabbit cages of the same size. You need one set of legs and a dropping pan for each level.

Flush Wire Cutter – 8″

These durable pliers cut cage wire flush instead of leaving sharp nubs. Spring-loaded design and ergonomic handles reduce fatigue. Nicely made and super sharp.

3/8″ Galvanized C-Rings – 1000 pcs

Galvanized steel, strong, rust-resistant c-rings for cage building. C-rings ensure a longer life for your cages since they don’t rust and trap urine like j-clips do.

C-Ring Pliers

These spring-loaded pliers crimp 3/8″, 1/2″, and 3/4″ C-rings. Cushioned non-slip grip. 7″ straight steel design.

Rabbit Cage Floor Wire 1/2″x1″

25 foot roll of 1/2’x1″ galvanized steel welded wire. Good for cage floors. Install “smooth side up” (wires closer together on top). Also available in a 100 ft roll.

Cage Door Cage Latches – 6 pack

Easy to install wire spring door latch for doors that swing out. 6 sturdy stainless steel latches with j-clips for installation. One handed operation.

Heavy Duty J-Clip Remover Pliers

These handy pliers are great at removing j-clips and c-rings. Quickly removes clips to disassemble cages or replace rusty cage floors.

Tattooing Meat Rabbits

Rabbits are often tattooed for identification purposes. They need a permanent ID tattoo in their left ear to be shown at an American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) show. We tattoo our kits with a clamp in the left ear around 8 weeks old. You can also use a tattoo pen to write the ID numbers in the ear. I prefer the clamp because it’s fast, easy-to-read, and always looks professional. Click for more info about Tattooing Meat Rabbits.

Rabbit Toys and Treats

Rabbit Hay Ball Toy

Our rabbits love playing with this versatile toy. Fill the ball with hay then mount it to the side of the cage, hang it, or let it roll. Great boredom buster!

Natural Pine Cones – 24 pack

Untreated organic pine cones satisfy rabbits natural urge to chew. Our bunnys enjoy munching the “wings” off the cone, leaving a skinny core, if anything.

Stackable Nesting Cups – Multi

A stack of durable cups in soft earth tones. Holes in the bottom allow rabbits to smell goodies hidden in cup. Safe, non-toxic material.

Rabbit Butchering Supplies

There are many ways to butcher rabbits – some humane, some not. Unfortunately, many videos online aren’t humane or don’t give enough information to repeat humanely. For example, the “broomstick method” is not considered humane because the rabbit’s neck and shoulders are crushed before dislocation. If you want to butcher rabbits humanely, I highly recommend you take our Meat Rabbit Processing Course. It covers everything you need to know about harvesting meat rabbits in about an hour.

Here are some of the processing tools we use and recommend:

Rabbit Skinning Gambrel

Hang this gambrel anywhere for an instant butcher station. Easy to use and maneuver while dressing out. Perfect size for rabbits. Made in the USA.

Victorinox Straight Edge Knife

High-quality knife for skinning & gutting rabbits. Designed for jobs where control is essential. 3.25″ razor sharp blade for precision cutting. Pick your favorite color! Lifetime warranty.

Anvil Loppers & Hand Pruner set

After dispatch, use loppers to separate the bones in the neck, making it easier to remove the head. Use hand pruners to remove the front feet while butchering. Heavy-duty carbon steel blades.

Cooking Rabbit Meat

A single 4-month old fryer feeds our large family for two meals. We serve the meat as a main dish the first night, then make stock with the bones for soup. I cook a whole rabbit in my Instant Pot, cool on a wood cutting board, then have the kids strip off the meat. The bones go back in the cooking liquid with veggie trimmings to make a batch of golden stock. Click to learn more about cooking rabbit meat.

Instant Pot Pressure Cooker – 6 qt

Cook a whole frozen rabbit in 30 min! This is the size and style we use. Will fit a whole fryer rabbit or small chicken. Large rabbits need to be cut in parts to fit. Makes amazing stock and bone broth. Stainless steel pot. I also use it to cook bulk batches of beans and rice.

Instant Pot Pressure Cooker – 8 qt

This is a larger version. Allows you to cook full meals for a large family. Fits a whole adult rabbit or chicken. Makes amazing stock and bone broth. Stainless steel pot. Simply set it and forget it for fast, easy meals!

Farberware Cutting Board 14″x20″

This beautiful wood cutting board has served my family for over 20 years! Stays flat and strong. Perfect spot to clean whole cooked rabbit, chicken, and turkey. Drip channel keeps counter clean. Also great for cutting veggies and canning. Hand wash and towel dry after use.
